Assistive Listening Technology

Assistive Listening technology is a helpful tool for your church/venue to provide inclusiveness and enable participation for hard-of-hearing attendees. The technology we recommend allows attendees to wirelessly connect to your church audio system, providing them with better audio clarity and reduced background noise. Unlike the old audio loop systems, this technology is easily installed with no hard wiring and no requirement for listeners to sit in specific seats.

Products from Listen Technologies met 100% of our selection criteria during our year-long project to find suitable assistive listening technology.

These are the top two products we recommend:

Streams audio through your church Wi-Fi network. Listeners access the audio using a free app on their phone or tablet, along with their own headphones or earbuds. (This product was previously branded Listen EVERYWHERE.)

Primary components in a ListenWIFI system: a server and a mobile app.

A dedicated radio-frequency system; listeners access the audio using a receiver supplied by the venue.

Typical components in a ListenRF system: a transmitter, receivers and ear pieces.

Free trial

We offer a free trial loan to Adventist churches of a ListenWIFI system, so that you can evaluate the benefits it provides to your venue and your congregation. Contact us to arrange a loan. The loan equipment includes a Wi-Fi router in case your venue is not currently equipped with Wi-Fi.

Still not convinced? These seminars may help you decide.

Part one, “Hearing Loss and Church Life”, explains the effects of hearing loss on communication, socialisation, family life, and participation in church life. It highlights the growing magnitude of the problem in the world, particularly in Australia, and how it presents our churches with an opportunity to show genuine Christian love and care for this segment of our membership and community.

Part two, “Assistive Listening for Churches” provides an overview of technology choices available to churches and makes specific recommendations based on the results of a twelve-month-long research study conducted by Graham Weir on behalf of Christian Services for the Blind and Hearing Impaired.

Note that the Listen EVERYWHERE system referred to in this video has been rebranded to ListenWIFI.
